All conference activities will be held at the Michigan League and the Horace H. Rackham School of Graduate Studies at the University of Michigan.

The primary lodging for the conference will be at the Bell Tower Hotel and the Campus Inn. For lodging contact each hotel directly and ask for the rate for the APA Division 45: Society for the Psychological Study of Ethnic Minority Issues Conference.

HOTEL ACCOMMODATIONS

Accommodations for the APA Division 45 Conference 2012 participants are available at the facilities listed below. Please contact the facility of your choice to make a reservation. To receive the special hotel rates quoted below, indicate you are APA Division 45 Conference 2012. Rates are guaranteed one month prior to start of conference, or until the room block is full.

Remember that you will be charged a 6% sales tax in Michigan.

We will be taking reservations after February 20, 2012 for APA Division 45 Conference 2012 for the two residence halls at the University of Michigan.

CAMBRIDGE HOUSE/Student Residence Hall

The residence hall is located two blocks south west from the conference, on the UM campus. A student residence hall style building that is connected to the Michigan Union on the central campus of the University of Michigan. The rooms are air-cooled and provide private baths, bed linens, towels, blanket and pillow.

All room rates are per night. There is an additional one-time administrative fee of $5.00 per person. Please provide us with a credit card number to pay for your stay. Your credit card will be charged at the time of reservation.

If you need to cancel your reservation, please call 734.764.5297 within 48 hours of your scheduled date of arrival or you will be charged for one night's stay on your credit card. The administrative fee will be withheld for processing purposes on all cancellations.

A parking permit for a designated lot on campus will be available for purchase at the Community Center. Street parking meters cost $1.25/hour between 8 am and 6 pm, otherwise they are free. But please be advised that street parking meters are scarce and parking enforcement is very strict - the fine is $10 to $15 for an expired parking meter. After several tickets you risk the inconvenience and the expense of several hundred dollars if your car is towed.

PLEASE NOTE: We does not assign roommates; if requesting a double room, you must be prepared to give them the names of both guests upon making the reservation. The room will be billed to one guest.

NORTH QUAD RESIDENCE HALL/Student Residence Hall

*It is the closest housing to the conference.

The North Quadrangle residence hall is located one block northwest of the “diag” on the UM campus, and is right next to Ingalls Mall, which contains Hill Auditorium, Rackham Building, and the Michigan League. North Quad is the University of Michigan’s first new residence hall built since 1967. North Quad opened in fall of 2010, with a combination of residence hall rooms and academic classroom space. The building has approximately 450 bed spaces, in combinations of singles, doubles, and triples. Double and triple suites are available which include a sofa, coffee table. Rooms have semi-private bath facilities, and are fully air-conditioned. Fresh towels and room cleaning are provided daily (M-F).

*NOTE: We do not assign roommates. Individuals reserving double rooms are responsible for payment of room and providing roommate name to Conference Services at the time of reservation.

Transportation

Those individuals who will be traveling by air should plan to fly into the Detroit Metropolitan Airport (DTW). All major airlines fly into Detroit Metropolitan Airport. The conference hotels are approximately 20 miles from the airport. Taxi rides cost approximately $40 one-way. There are also several shuttle services that are considerably cheaper. For those traveling by train, the Amtrak station is located in downtown Ann Arbor and is within 1 mile of campus.
