Transportation

Those individuals who will be traveling by air should plan to fly into the Detroit Metropolitan Airport (DTW). All major airlines fly into Detroit Metropolitan Airport. The conference hotels are approximately 20 miles from the airport. Taxi rides cost approximately $40 one-way. There are also several shuttle services that are considerably cheaper. For those traveling by train, the Amtrak station is located in downtown Ann Arbor and is within 1 mile of campus.

UNDERGRADUATE HOUSING WITH UNIVERSITY OF MICHIGAN GRADUATE STUDENTS

The ethnic minority psychology graduate student organizations (Asian/Asian American Psychology Student Association, Black Student Psychological Association, and Latino/a Student Psychological Association) at the University of Michigan are offering free lodging to undergraduate conference attendees. In addition to reducing costs, this is an opportunity to get to know an ethnic minority psychology graduate student more intimately than you might otherwise during a conference.

Interested undergraduate students should email div45.student.planning@gmail.com with the following information by Friday, May 11 at 5:00p.m.:

  • Name
  • Year in school (e.g., rising junior in Fall 2012)
  • Current major and a sentence or two about your research interests
  • Gender and whether or not you prefer a same-gender host (note if you are indifferent)
  • Indicate whether you are presenting a poster at the conference
  • Provide your arrival and departure days and times
  • If you would like to stay with a student of a particular ethnic, cultural, geographic background etc., please let us know. Whenever possible, we would like to provide meaningful connections for students who want to gain insight into others’ graduate school experiences.
  • Provide any additional information that might be relevant for the host matching process (e.g., pet allergies).

Housing priority will be granted to presenters, followed by Psi Alpha Omega/Division 45 members, and undergraduates who have registered for the conference. Unfortunately, we may not be able to house all who apply. You will be notified of housing availability by Monday, May 14. Please be sure to check the Division 45 conference website for other economical housing options, including staying in campus dorm rooms at reasonable rates.
